The HJD2250 is a high-interrupting thermal magnetic circuit breaker. This circuit breaker has been designed by Cutler-Hammer (Eaton Corporation) and it belongs to Series C of the molded case circuit breakers, specifically to the J Frame size range. The main function of the Cutler-Hammer HJD2250 high-interrupting thermal magnetic circuit breaker is to provide protection against short circuits and ground fault lines that could significantly affect electric systems and all the equipment related to these systems. The functioning of the Cutler-Hammer HJD2250 high-interrupting thermal magnetic circuit breaker consists of the combination of 2 different mechanisms. The trip action is carried out by the means of a thermal detector and electromagnets located in series.
It is important to mention that even though the Cutler-Hammer HJD2250 high-interrupting thermal magnetic circuit breaker has 2 poles, these are connected through a bar and if one of them detects the fault first, both of them will open equally and generate a trip action. The Cutler-Hammer HJD2250 high-interrupting thermal magnetic circuit breaker operates with a voltage range of 600 Volts AC and a maximum continuous amperage of 250 Amps. It also has a performance rating of 65 symmetrical Amps at a specific voltage of 480 Volts AC. The calibration of the Cutler-Hammer HJD2250 high-interrupting thermal magnetic circuit breaker is performed at a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. If a higher temperature is required, the calibration process must be performed again or else the circuit breaker must be derated. The same occurs when the breaker is going to be used within an enclosure.
Manufacturer Part Numbers (MPNs) are often difficult to read. Here are some commonly mistaken versions for the HJD2250:
