The Eaton JD3100 is a complete JD-type molded case circuit breaker. The HACR-rated J-frame circuit breakers like the JD3100 are designed for panelboards, motor control centers, and busway and switchboard applications. JD type circuit breakers are available for 70 to 250 Amps rated applications and they are UL certified. The JD3100 is a three-pole circuit breaker which uses a fixed thermal/magnetic trip unit. When a thermal trip occurs, the circuit breaker can only be reset once the trip unit has cooled. When an accessory-initiated or automatic trip occurs, the circuit breaker can be reset by moving the handle to the extreme off position.
The current rating of the JD3100 is 100 Amps and voltage rating is 250 Volts DC/600 Volts AC. The ability of the JD3100 to withstand short circuits at 240, 480, and 600 Volts AC is rated at 65, 35, and 18 kilo-Amps interrupt capacity respectively. The short circuit endurance capability at 250 Volts DC is 22 kilo-Amps interrupt capacity. To ensure the safety of personnel and electrical equipment, the JD3100 should be installed when it is switched off, voltages are absent from the work area and the associated equipment is not energized. Maintenance and testing should also be performed while following the above-mentioned precautions. General safety procedures and local codes and regulations should be followed. The JD3100 is a J-frame device with a weight of 8 pounds. Its dimensions are a height of 12 inches, a width of 4.13 inches, and a depth of 4.31 inches.
