About the KDB3400W

The Eaton Cutler-Hammer KDB3400W Molded Case Circuit Breaker is a completely assembled circuit breaker in the Series C, Frame F, family of circuit breakers with thermal –magnetic trip units, and it is designed to protect conductors and connected devices from short-circuits and current overload. This circuit breaker is designed without terminals, but optional terminals can be ordered separately to meet the users’ wiring needs. The KDB3400W has a continuous current rating of 400 Amps, and it offers an interrupting capacity of 35 kAIC at 480 Volts input. It is utilized in 600 Volts AC/250 Volts DC applications, and it is designed for reverse feed use. It has an insulated enclosure, which houses a trip unit made of thermal and magnetic trip elements, and a quick break/make operating mechanism.

The KDB3400W provides trip action via a bimetal strip heated by a line load current, which will deflect on sustained overload, and an electromagnet connected in a series with a line load, which provides instantaneous tripping action as the current reaches a predetermined value. The operating mechanism provides a platform for closing and opening the breaker’s contacts and they are designed to prevent contacts from being held closed against an abnormal circuit condition. The KDB3400W has an operating temperature range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius, within a 0 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity, and it is designed for use at 6000 feet above sea level. It weighs approximately 5.2 kilograms (with the frame and circuit breaker), with dimensions of 149.7 x 257.3 x 104.1 millimeters, and it is BS, AS, UL, and IEC certified.
