About the JGH3175FAG

The Eaton JGH3175FAG circuit breaker is a molded case circuit breaker. Being a molded case circuit breaker, the JGH3175FAG circuit breaker has a selective trip over a small range of fault currents within the interrupting rating and it is cheaper than most low-voltage power circuit breakers and insulated case circuit breakers. Additionally, the JGH3175FAG circuit breaker, like other molded case circuit breakers from Eaton, requires minimal maintenance and it has an enclosed current rating of 80% of its continuous current rating. The breaker is designed to provide circuit protection for low-voltage distribution systems. Notably, the JGH3175FAG circuit breaker provides circuit protection by closing and interrupting a circuit between separable contacts under both normal and abnormal situations. Additionally, the breaker employs non-automatic means to open and close a circuit. However, the breaker uses automatic means to open a circuit by using predetermined overload currents.

Therefore, the JGH3175FAG circuit breaker can be used to protect motor stators and motors against short circuits. The breaker has a type J frame, 3 poles, and a current rating of 175 Amps. The JGH3175FAG circuit breaker uses a fixed thermal adjustable magnetic trip system. The breaker comprises trip elements, an operating mechanism, and arc extinguishers. The breaker’s thermal-magnetic trip unit which forms the motor’s trip element is used to trip the circuit breaker in the case of situations such as extended overload currents or short circuits. By using a thermal-magnetic trip unit, the JGH3175FAG circuit breaker is capable of providing reliable and accurate short circuit and overload protection for connected devices and conductors.
